Geoff Moritz  - Director of Youth Programs & Head Sailing Instructor

Geoff Moritz is a lifelong resident of the Jersey Shore and a lover of all things along the waterfront. He grew up sailing a 22’ O’Day and a 35’ Choy Lee Ketch. Geoff has many years as a level I, and level II sailing coach teaching Opti’s, Lasers, and 420’s. He has raced in many prestigious regattas, both in blue water and in the bays. MORE

Director of Adult Programs and Membership

Open Position, applications being accepted .


This position is department head in charge of offering adult sailing lessons and managing volunteer and member activities. This is a mainly a weekend position working from May to October. Applicants must have US Sailing instructor certification, NJ Safe Boaters certification, CPR and First aid training, and both sailing and power small boat handling skills.

Michael "Rusty" Carroll - Dock Master 

Rusty has remarked that he always discovers something whenever he comes to the water. He has a deep respect, and takes an active stewardship of the ocean and the Shark River estuary.  

He is an avid kayaker and snorkeler,  and is regularly seen cleaning litter while exploring.  He takes great delight to find people who also cares about the health of the Shark River Basin.  MORE

The Shark River Sailing and Science Academy is the new educational program presented by The Friends of the Belmar Harbor which is a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization which promotes the health and vitality of the Shark River Bay.
