Jeanette Yannazzone
Board of Trustees Member

Jeanette special education teacher and a lifelong resident of Belmar and is the second youngest of seven children of well known Dr. and Mrs. Smyth. During her childhood, she experienced all aspects of living at the Jersey Shore such as learning swimming and lifesaving skills from Harold Rowland at the Empress Motel in Asbury Park. She is a graduate of St. Rose elementary and high school. She attended Georgian Court College where she received a B.S. in Business Administration and Accounting. 

After college Jeanette worked on Main Street in Belmar for several years at the National Westminster Bank. She later became Assistant Manager of the bank when she relocated to the Little Silver office, and then became the
manager of the PNC Bank. 


After the birth of her first son Anthony, Jeanette returned to school to become a Special Education Teacher. She has worked in Early Intervention for many years and has been teaching in the Neptune Township school system since 2002. Jeanette was instrumental at starting the Multiple Handicapped Program in both the middle school and in the high school.

Jeanette has a love for recreational boating and kayaking. She has been the faculty advisor for the high school Sailing and Kayaking club since 2014 and as a real appreciation for water safety. She has combined this interest with her special education skills and has opened new doors in the club for students who were blind, paraplegics as well as those who are cognitively delayed.

Jeanette has also been active in marine science education taking students for overnight
workshops at the Sedge Island National Resource Education Center in the Barnegat Bay. She
has introduced many students, including special needs children, to the natural and cultural
history of the bay.

Jeanette has been a very active citizen in the area for many years and joined the FOBH Board of Trustees in 2018.
